Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar with his folk-based pop songs many of them based in Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever to be inducted. He has become the personification of Colorado for many people across the globe. Danoff composed the track in conjunction with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver was introduced to an earlier version it was clear that it was destined to be an instant hit.
